In Our Nature pop-up

Objective

Create an immersive nature experience in one of Manchester's busiest streets to reconnect people with nature and highlight its benefits.

Approach

Many people, especially those in low-income urban areas, lack access to green spaces and a connection with nature. The In Our Nature programme aimed to inspire sustainable living by creatively reconnecting communities with nature.

In collaboration with Playground Design Studio, I designed a pop-up experience that transformed a shop into a nature-filled space. Visitors walked through displays like ‘Good to grow’ plant-filled trolleys and giant shopping lists, all made from sustainable materials. The installation featured projections of green spaces, a nature soundscape created with Jason Singh and Young Identity, and all plants were donated to local groups after the event.

Result

  • 1,000+ visitors attended.

  • 80% felt more relaxed, and 68% realised they needed to appreciate nature more.

  • The pop-up received 13 media mentions, with 5.8 million online impressions, including BBC Radio Manchester coverage.
