3 tips for creative facilitation

Not too big and chaotic. Not too small and short. Just right.

Goldilocks was onto something. When it comes to running creative sessions it's often tricky to find that perfect balance.

Here are my 3 must-haves for a brilliantly balanced creative session:

1. Feng Shui 🍃 - a balanced space and group of people is key. Fresh air and plants? yes please. In person or fully online over hybrid. Use things (images, objects, sound) to immerse yourself in the topic. Go one better and step away from the office. Finally - messy mural, messy mind.

2. Facilitation 🎤 - someone needs to guide the flow, keep track of time, allow space for individual thinking and room for occasional tangents (who know where they'll take you!). Welcome critical thoughts and pass the mic frequently. Coffee breaks are a must. Snacks are a bonus.

3. Fun 🎵 - I find the best ideas come when people feel relaxed and comfortable to share (bonkers, curve-ball, risky ideas shake things up). Music can be a great way to instantly set the vibe you're after. Who says you have to be serious to tackle serious issues anyway?
